Hit by the Musical Baton

Wednesday / 18 May 05

Robert was kind enough to throw the baton at my head. Usually, I don’t care to waste the energy on chain-like events such as these, but it’s a perfect opportunity to tell the world about my musical taste and (lack of) library.

Total Volume

1.69GB consisting mostly of livesets.

Last CD Bought

CD? Bought? That must have been at least four years ago, if not more. It’s not that I download a lot, on the contrary, I don’t download (the kind the RIAA doesn’t want you to do) at all. Most of my music is either streamed or is a liveset available on the internet.

Song Playing Right Now

“Techno February 2005” by Nino Pipito — a relatively old liveset I only just got around to listening more frequently. This stuff increases your productivity by at least 100%.. ;-)

Five Songs I Listen to A Lot, Or That Mean A Lot to Me

  • “Techno February 2005” by Nino Pipito
  • “DJ AID AsiaTsunami Live - Asta” by DJ Thilo and Zany
  • “Hardstyle Hymns Winter 2005 Mix” by Metro Fun
  • Deepack at Qlimax Gelredome Arnhem 2003
  • DJ Lady Dana at Qlimax Thialf Heerenveen 2003

Five People to Whom I’m Passing the Baton

Stephen, Ron, Gavin, Kyle and Simon.

I want your baton, Jeroen. ;o

Really though, didn't have you down as the meme-type.
It's a pretty good one though.

Hi Rippance :p This is your lost, but well maintained friend from the days of btwracing, SLicK, if you remember.

I looks to me that you enjoy trance as much as I do, but it sadens me to see that you don't have your fellow countryman Tiësto on that list. I recently bought the "In Concert" DVD from Gelredome Arnheim late 2004. I must say this is something everybody who love trance should have. It gave me the chills.

Well... Nice "seeing" you again.... godspeed :-)

Kristian - Aya caramba. Wow. Of course I remember. How many years has it been now? Three years? Those were the good ol' days eh? Do give me an e-mail and we'll talk some more!

I am not a fan of Tiesto's work at all. His music is way too commercial and a bit on the soft side for me. His work is probably best classified as trance, whereas my selection tends to be a bit more on the hardstyle side.

Well, this is an honour Jeroen :-) As you may have noticed, I've been keeping a fairly low profile lately - too much work, not enough sleep... I'll have to think about this one a bit more but a quick check shows just how much my music collection needs sorting - 21+Gb, 5000+ songs. That includes some of my sister's music and A LOT from friends, which I still need to sort.

I think I'll be hard pressed to pick 5 favourites but something by Jack Johnson or Ben Harper will probably be right up there. I don't mind a bit of trance / techno either but I don't really have any set favourites. I agree about it increasing productivity though!

I just had a quick look through my list and this is my "short list" of artists :-p

Jack Johnson
Ben Harper
Bob Marley
Freestylers
Outkast
Ugly Duckling
Gorillaz
Faithless
Fatboy Slim
Enya
Redhot Chilli Peppers
Dire Straits
Darude
Crowded House
Katalyst
Jurassic Five
Foo Fighters
Oasis
UB40

How's that for random tastes? I've probably forgotten some...

Didn't know you were the religious type?

;)

I thought 'to download from the internet' meant to transfer data from the internet? Therefore, surely you do download music..?

Very interesting. Your taste is fairly.. ähm.. unusual.. but, I suppose, each to his own!

Weirdo.. ;)
